WHAT WE DO
Mosaic’s Vocational Services adheres to an evidence-based practice in supported employment model which focuses on the current vocational interests and abilities of clients, as opposed to a model that requires extensive training in a specific area prior to the job search.
Program participants are provided an assessment and employment specialists work individually with each client to identify the basic requirements for the types of employment they are seeking. A customized employment approach is used when a client’s skills and education do not meet the requirements for their employment of choice. This approach increases the likelihood of clients’ work success and job satisfaction.
Clients are assisted in conducting job searches via the internet, newspapers and other community resources. Participants may choose to apply for and interview for positions on their own, be assisted by an employment specialist, or access a combination of those supports. The employment specialists only contact employers as requested by the clients based upon an individualized disclosure plan. Upon obtaining employment, job coaching is also provided for clients who want and need this service. Transportation to and from the job is primarily the responsibility of the client with assistance from employment specialists to problem-solve and provide travel training.
To increase employment opportunities for clients, the program staff identifies and develops relationships with local employers and educates them about the rewards and challenges of hiring individuals with disabilities. The employment specialists continue to work closely with employers after the initial job placement to help resolve any concerns that might arise during the client’s employment period.
The vocational program also provides Benefits Counseling services to both program clients and DORS consumers.
WHO WE SERVE
