Behavioral Health Centers at Timonium, Northwest, and Catonsville

Mosaic’s outpatient mental health clinics provide a comprehensive array of services that address a range of behavioral health problems.  Clients visiting these clinics can receive individual therapy sessions, group therapy sessions, and medication management, among other services.  The services provided at each site address behavioral health issues affecting individuals of all ages, including child and adolescent clients.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP)

The off-site Child & Adolescent PRP program provides in-home wrap-around services for children and adolescents with emotional disturbances.  The off-site PRP continues to be an extraordinarily effective method of treating children with emotional disabilities because they receive services in the home and community in environments in which they are most comfortable with the least disruption to the family unit.  This program focuses on developing the skills necessary for functioning in the community, home, and school.

Transitional Age Youth Program (TAY)

TAY is a 12-bed program for young adults between the ages of 17 and 21 that is a hybrid between traditional independent living programs and therapeutic group home living.  This particular age group is one that is typically overlooked in the mental health system because these individuals no longer fit into children’s programs and are not yet ready for adult programs.  Clients enrolled in TAY live in their supervised apartments and receive wraparound services including ongoing rehabilitative support, coordination of psychotherapy, group counseling, and medication management, vocational training and coordination with academic/vocational program, case management, leisure/recreational activities, and training in independent living skills.

Adolescent Therapeutic Group Homes

Mosaic currently operates four adolescent therapeutic group homes, three male and one female.  Clients residing at these homes are at-risk, emotionally disturbed adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 who require 24-hour supervision from trained staff.  Adolescent clients living in Mosaic’s group homes receive the wraparound services necessary to overcome emotional disturbances and become productive members of the community.

Vocational Services—Career Centers

Recently certified by the State of Maryland as an Evidence Based Practice Supported Employment site, the program provides vocational training to persons with mental illness by offering job training, pre-employment, employment opportunities, and vocational services that promote economic and social independence and success in the work environment of their choice.  The type and degree of services delivered to each individual involved in the supported employment program is determined by the client’s desire and need, and is documented on each Individual Rehabilitation Plan.  The client-centered approach is a key component of the supported employment program and includes case conferences that are held on a systematic basis to review assessments, plans, and effectiveness of interventions.  All clients in Mosaic’s supported employment program receive case management services to ensure comprehensive services and continuity of care.

Community Rehabilitation

Mosaic Community Services’ psychiatric day rehabilitation program (PRP) is designed to help individuals gain the skills and confidence necessary to perform everyday life activities.  Clients participating in the day PRP attend various group meetings, participate in various wellness and social recreational programs, and receive individual case management.  Clients also participate in occupational therapy (OT) sessions to help develop the skills and supports necessary to live independent, productive lives.  Staff work with clients to improve activities of daily living such as medication scheduling, proper nutrition, personal hygiene, money management, etc.  The day PRP program uses a variety of methods to promote community integration and recovery.

General and Community Residential Services

Mosaic’s extensive residential program is designed for individuals with many types of housing needs.  This program provides varying levels of supervision (drop-in to 24/7/365) and is designed to assist clients in gaining skills needed for community integration.  Housing options range from individual apartments, townhouses, single family, and small to large group homes.  The level of supervision at each residence is contingent upon the individual’s needs.

Residential Crisis Services

Mosaic’s Residential Crisis services provide intensive services to individuals experiencing increased psychiatric symptoms where an alternative to or prevention of hospitalization is needed.  The crisis facilities are houses that provide 24/7/365 staffing and psychiatric rehabilitation and treatment to these individuals who are in psychiatric crisis or at imminent risk of psychiatric crisis.  All of Mosaic’s therapeutic crisis beds are licensed by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as prevention to and/or alternative to hospitalization.  Payment for these crisis services is significantly less expensive than acute inpatient hospitalization, lengthy emergency room stays, and/or hospitalization.

Elder Options®

Mosaic’s Elder Options® program provides a continuum of services designed to allow clients age 50+ with psychiatric disabilities to remain in the community as their needs become more challenging.  The level of care provided to clients in this program is contingent upon individual need and situation.  Many clients participating in the Elder Options® program attend Mosaic’s adult medical day care program during the day and reside at one of the organization’s many homes on nights and weekends.

Adult Medical Day Care

Mosaic’s Adult Medical Day Care (AMDC) program is designed for the aging population that also suffers from mental illness.  Because of age and somatic health issues, clients attending the AMDC program are physically unable to attend traditional psychiatric rehabilitation programs.  AMDC clients reside in the community or at one of Mosaic’s many residential properties.  This program helps increase the quality of life by successfully maintaining these individuals in the community.
