About Ruby Wax
Arriving in Britain from the United States in 1977, Ruby Wax began her acting career with the Royal Shakespeare Company. She went on to write and perform in her own hugely popular television programs for the BBC and Channel 4. Following her hugely successful television career, Ruby Wax has now turned her attention to the study of psychotherapy and neuoroscience, recently receiving her Master’s degree in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy from Oxford University. She is the author of the best-selling book Sane New World. Described as a guide to saner living, Ruby explains how our minds can jeopardize our sanity, and that to break the cycle, we need to understand how our brains work, rewire our thinking and find calm in a frenetic world. Her show of the same name, combines neuroscience, mindfulness and comedy, helping audiences to become the masters, not the slaves of their minds. Sane New World has toured both internationally and in London’s West End. She also founded Black Dog Tribe, a social networking site providing information and social support for people suffering with mental health issues. She presented her TedTalk at TedGlobal 20212 “What’s So Funny About Mental Illness?” and was recently awarded an OBE for services to mental health.
Ruby latest book, “A Mindfulness Guide for the Frazzled,” is an outrageously witty, smart and accessible guide for using mindfulness to combat stress. She provides advice for relationships, parents, children and teenagers and a six-week course based on her studies of Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy at Oxford University. Following the successful format of Sane New World, Ruby will begin touring the UK with her new one-woman show based on Frazzled in April, 2016.
